Darkness, Darkness, Go Away

Today's gem from Hodayah, while walking home from daycare:
H: Where's the moon?!?
Me: I don't know.  Maybe it got lost.
H: The moon was not listening!  So he had to go to his room.  He was very Angry!

Also, she didn't want to leave daycare until "the darkness goes away!"

Karaoke Night

I had such a lovely Yom Tov season with friends and family, and lots of shul.  I actually got to daven a few times, which is so rare, but so nice.  I Loved dancing with my daughter and the other children in shul on Simchat Torah and watching my daughter have such a great time laughing and jumping and dancing with the other women in shul. That was really special to me.  She also got to kiss the Torah on the women's side upstairs, which is a big freakin deal at my shul that many of the people there, my daughter included, don't even know about that struggle.  One of my greatest joys of the holiday was when my husband took my children for the "Kol Hanearim" aliyah.  I may have cried.  But then I laughed when my son spat up on my husband's suit and tallit.  Thank God he did not spit up on the Torah scroll!  But one of the funniest highlights for me was sitting on my terrace, having dinner with my husband on Simchat Torah night, after kids were asleep, and being serenaded by the woman in the bar across the street singing really bad karaoke to "Livin' on a Prayer" and "My Heart Will Go On".

Baby Shark

I've mentioned that I live in an apt building and some lucky neighbor can hear us through the shower vent. (I know bc we hear some neighbor also).  Today's gem was my daughter screaming in the bath, while I was using the shark sponge to wash her - "the shark is gonna eat my vagina and my tushy!"

Boogie Woogie Woogies

My daughter out of nowhere screamed out "UH-HUH!". So naturally, I answered "UH-HUH!". She screamed it again, so I answered again. Then I said "Let me hear what you gotta say!". That's where it ended. She doesn't know the rest.

Dinorena

Recent gems from Hodayah:
1. "I didn't wake up from my nap bc the darkness didn't go away."
2. "Baby (her doll) has dinorena."
3. "I love the ankees!".
The last one did not go over well at home with some people.

"You make me happy".  "You make me smile the whole day".

I need to clean up my puddle now.

Foil Balls

Actual conversations with my children: 1. One Shabbat, Moshe, Hodayah, and Hillel all had crumpled balls of foil and were planning to ambus...
