Solid Life Lesson - 2020

When I was a kid, my parents had a friend and they had a not-so-nice nickname for her that they would use to refer to her.  It was kind of a family joke.  One day, she called, and I answered the phone and when I called out to my mom to pick up, I screamed out "The not-so-nice-nickname is on the phone!"  That stuck with me forever, but I didn't quite my lesson.  Today, my daughter was on a whatsapp call with her friends and she told them that she wears a diaper at night so that she doesn't pish in her bed b/c her mommy doesn't want to do laundry every day.  🤦‍♀️

Now, I have learned my lesson!  Thank God it wasn't worse.

Back Seat Driver

The other day, while driving my kids to daycare, a car stopped on a busy road to allow me to make a left turn into the daycare parking lot.  So I made sure to wave to the driver and say thank you, and I explained to my daughter why that was a big deal and that we always have to say thank you when someone does that.  She then said something like "and if they don't stop, we say "Dude! What's wrong with you?!  Come on!"

Then yesterday, while driving to daycare, someone was turning around and blocking the parking lot.  My daughter said "Dude!  Move your car!"

🤦🏼‍♀️ Good thing it's not worse...?

Bereishit According to Hodayah and Hillelly

Parshat Bereishit according to Hodayah:

Hashem created the animals...and [something else that's accurate]...and books.  

Hashem told Chava and the first man not to eat from inside the eitz hadaat.

Hashem told me not to look at Miryam Bat-Tzion Atik. (Said while on a video call with Miryam Bat-Tzion Atik). 

ויאמר ה' אל הודיה...?

Then Hillelly said "אדם".  I promise!

Rain Dance

My daughter is doing a special chant to help fix what's left of this year.  Or it's going to rain tomorrow.  I'm not really sure.

Mitzvah Note

I just wrote the following mitzvah note for my daughter:

"Dear Morot,

Hodayah is such a great big sister and such a good helper.  Her brother wanted to play with blocks with mommy, but mommy had to go to the bathroom.  Hodayah took the blocks and took her brother to the playroom so mommy was able to go to the bathroom.  Thank you so much, Hodayah!

(She actually said to Hillelly "Come baby brother.  You want to play?  Big sister will play with you.  Come!". It was sooooo sweet and I almost stayed to watch rather than go to the bathroom.)

P.s. a year later, I never actually sent that note bc I had so many other good ones that week, b"h, and I saved it for when I would have a lull, and then it was too far from the event that o thought Hodayah would be confused so I never ended up sending it.  Oh well.

Making Faces

 Best line over Sukkot:

Me to Hodayah:. You have a beautiful face. I know. I made it. Well, Abba and I made it.

Mo Berow:. Please! I made that face! You were just the parcel delivery service!

My very own Sukkah

Tonight, I helped (watched) Moshe build our Sukkah.  In the moment, it wasn't so special bc the screws were rusty and we couldn't figure out why there's an extra pole, etc.  But now that we're done (minus schach and decorations), it's so special to be able to have our very own Sukkah for the first time in my whole life.  My daughter is gonna flip when she sees it in the morning.  I can't wait to celebrate Sukkot with our children in our own home \ driveway.
